Our Impact
Automation & scalability through digital process optimization.
Measurability & controllability through strategic prioritization.
Cost optimization through precise forecasts of staffing needs & processing times.
The Challenge
The solar boom is on. One major reason: the elimination of value-added tax on photovoltaic systems since 2023. This tax incentive is part of a broader effort to meet national climate targets and significantly increase the share of renewable energy in the power mix. The result? A massive surge in new PV installations — and growing pressure on grid operators.
That includes Netz Leipzig, part of the Stadtwerke Leipzig group. Their challenge: processing thousands of incoming applications while facing both organizational and system overload — making structured, predictable handling nearly impossible.
The Solution
1. Digitalization
To handle the overwhelming influx of applications, Exxeta developed an effective approach to process optimization. The first step was implementing a custom-built migrator to close digital gaps and automatically transfer data from the application system to the target systems. As a result, 50% of all applications are now processed directly and efficiently.
2. Prioritization
For the remaining applications, a prioritization framework was introduced based on system size, urgency, and commercial impact. Within the first six months of the project, this approach enabled the completion of more than one-third of the outstanding applications awaiting manual processing.
3. Quality Assurance
By introducing a dedicated quality assurance tool, data inconsistencies are detected, assigned, and corrected early in the process — significantly boosting overall efficiency.
With the combination of prioritization, automation, quality gates, and defined handover points, Netz Leipzig is now equipped to:
Steer the operational execution of the current process in real time.
Derive insights and directions for future process and automation strategies.
What the experts say
“The high number of generation plant applications presented us with a major challenge. Together with Exxeta, we successfully refined our processes and made them significantly more efficient. The new partial automation and the focused approach to application handling now allow us to process customer requests in a more structured and faster way.”
“Through automation, digitalization, and sustainable business consulting, we successfully managed the surge of applications and optimized the processes for the long term.”
